The grants are funded by the profits from selling consigned and donated pre-owned furniture, antiques and decorator items. VTH features the best in home furnishings and accessories. Since opening in Glenview, the Village Treasure House has funded over $400,000 in charitable grants. These are the organizations received recent funding: 2005 -- Recipients of Village Treasure House Grants 1. Connections for the Homeless $12,000 2. Family Services Center 10,000 3. Wings – assistance for the homeless 9,000 4. Wesley Child Care Center 8,800 5. Youth Services of Glenview/Northbrook 6,700 6. LINKS 6,500 7. Northfield Food Pantry 4,500 8. Children’s Advocacy 4,000 9. Haven Youth & Family Services 5,000 10. Metropolitan Family Services 5,000 11. YWCA - Domestic violence services 3,000 12. Other/Special Memorial Donation $550 TOTAL $75,050 VTH is dreaming about reaching an even better 2006 grand total with the help of a few new volunteers. VTH need your talents to join us to make this goal. Work inside the shop as little as two half days a month or just a few hours a month at home making marketing calls. Every volunteer job helps support agencies committed to servicing families in our community with the most need. Helping VTH may not change the world, but certainly will have impact on Glenview’s surrounding communities. Volunteering at the Village Treasure House is about business and community. VTH puts to positive use the wonderful talents of our retired community together with younger business people and stay at home moms. Aside from its one shared full time manager position, the shop is entirely staffed by nearly seventy volunteers. The shop also serves as a drop-off location for the national Donate-A-Phone which provides refurbished cell phones to victims of domestic abuse. Village Treasure House accepts donations of furniture, china, crystal, lamps, paintings and collectibles any time, and tax letters are provided. VTH is a 501(c) Tax-Exempt Organization. Consignment is by appointment only, either at the shop or in the home for larger items.
