Glenview’s Village Treasure House is pleased to announce that they made a total of $60,000 in grants for the second half of 2004, bringing the total amount in donations for the year to $85,000. The following organizations received recent funding:

As of January 1, 2005, VTH has provided $331,875 in donations to local charitable organizations since the shop opened for business in 1997. The shop was honored by Connections for the Homeless this past year as “Community Partner of the Year,” and was designated one of WINGS’s top seven donors, receiving a Certificate of Appreciation at their annual meeting in October.

Village Treasure House is a nonprofit resale/consignment shop of fine furniture and home accessories. It was founded as a volunteer organization to provide revenue to agencies assisting women and children in crisis in our neighboring communities. The shop also serves as a drop-off location for the national Donate-a-Phone program, and has collected over 500 phones in the past year. Aside from its two paid managers, the shop is entirely staffed by nearly sixty women volunteers. They, along with the executive board members, are drawn from Glenview and surrounding communities.

Village Treasure House accepts donations of furniture, china, crystal, lamps, paintings and collectibles any time, and tax letters are provided.
