VILLAGE TREASURE HOUSE 1825 GLENVIEW ROAD GLENVIEW, IL 60025847 832-1030
VILLAGE TREASURE HOUSE holds $500,000 celebration. On September 16, 2007, Glenview’s Village Treasure House held a $500K Celebration Party at 1825 Glenview Rd. This celebration unexpectedly resulted in more giving to the neighborhood community through one lucky local government official. The event was attended by approximately 200 people comprised of numerous non-profit representatives from agencies receiving grants from the Village Treasure House. In addition there were friends, volunteers, consignors, and customers including Glenview Village President Kerry Cummings, Trustee Paul Detlefs, Elizabeth Coulson State Representative from District 17 and Laura Mills from Jeff Schoenberg’s office. Terry O’Shaughnessy representing the I.A. O’Shaughnessy Foundation and John Diedreich representing Glenview State Bank were both presented with a Treasured Friend Award from VTH. These awards were made to acknowledge their support enabling VTH to make these substantial grants to local not for profit agencies. The I.A. O’Shaughnessy Foundation and Glenview State Bank help makes volunteering at Village Treasure House worthwhile. Of course, as at most not for profit events, there were raffle tickets for donated prizes sold to offset the cost of the event. The grand price was an anonymously donated 80 Gb I phone together with a $100.00 gift certificate donated by ABT. State Representative Elizabeth Coulson won it. As Ms Coulson had purchased a few raffle tickets with her own funds, the Village Treasure House was surprised and pleased when she chose one of our grant recipients, Youth Services of Glenview/Northbrook to receive it as a donation. This I Phone and gift certificate will be one of their featured raffle prizes at Youth Services Casino night on Saturday, October 27th. This is an event to raise money for their capital building fund, which is currently only halfway funded. Village Treasure House is proud to be located in a town with so much support for their volunteers work. It is also clear that many of our community leaders have a tremendous civic commitment. Although this was not a fund raising event, Village Treasure House is pleased to have received approximately $10K in raffle ticket sales and donations - far exceeding the event cost. As a not for profit, it is the generosity of the members of our community that we rely on most. VTH cannot say thank you enough. One of Glenview’s best kept shopping secrets, the Village Treasure House is a 501(3)c consignment resale shop located at: 1825 Glenview Rd. The shop features furniture, art, lamps and other fine household items. Open Tuesday through Saturday 10 – 5 p.m. (847) 832-1030 VTH Grants have been given to Children’s Advocacy Center $12,500, Connections for the Homeless $96,000, Erika’s Light House $2,000, YWCA Evanston/North Shore $40,500, Family Services Center $76,475, Food Pantry of Des Plaines $2,000, Haven Youth & Family Services $26,200, Links $37,700, Metropolitan Family Services $18,300, Midwest Palliative & Hospice $7,500, Northfield Township Food Pantry $22,000, PADS $2,000, Wesley Child Care Center $32,100, Wings $96,375 and Youth Services Glenview/Northbrook $76,200. |
